Suntanning lotions reviews

I’m merely convinced that another year has gone (oh yes I count my year from summer instead of after Christmas). It’s terrifying, I know, when your colleagues are off for summer holiday and you are questioned when yours will be and you’re like ‘oh I just come back from… wait, what?!

It’s last year already the trip you are talking about.

Meanwhile, coming to notice that beach is no go-as-I-wish idea anymore in the adulthood and the sun rarely shows up on your only beach day in the week is galling enough to gulp a bunch of summer necessities in the deranged SALES season (unconsciously) in compensation.

On this account, I’m going to intensify your cart on one of the beach essentials – sun tanning.

suntanning 1Banana Boat

Tanning effect: 2/5

Product design: 2/5

I never like the spray products since their chance of acting counterproductive is relatively high. The nozzle stops working (after close contact with the sand) on one of my sunbathing days. And ever since then, I have to open the whole thing up and pour the oil out (and accidentally spilled maybe half of the bottle out one time when I was chatting).

suntanning 2Hawaiian Tropic

Tanning effect: 1/5

Product design: 3/5

It is the only lotion product on the list. I hardly see any tanning result from this product but this does prevent you from burning. The one thing nice about having a lotion suntanning is the noticeable application, which. unlike the transparent oily product, helps keep track of the sneaky area, like shoulder and the part next to your armpits.

suntanning 3Nivea

Tanning effect: 1/5

Product design: 4/5

I rate quite highly for the design of this spray product because it works smoothly regardless the direction of application and any contact with the sand. You know, sometimes it gets difficult to spray it upside down or to get instant re-spray one after another. Though the tanning effect is subtle, it may be the one for you if you don’t want to worry about too much of burning.

suntanning 4Reef

Tanning effect: 3/5

Product design: 3/5

Reef is by far the most impressive product I’ve tried. I got it from a friend as souvenir from Australia so I’m not sure where can you get it around here. It smells sooo coconuty and the pocket-size design is very handy.

Coconut oil

You may or may not have noticed that coconut oil is the good old sun tanning helper (with an approximate SPF of 4), which, to no surprise, gives you a very nice tan. YET, the burning is real too. So you are advised to either stay under an umbrella or avoid the noon hour.

It's Margaret here, from Hong Kong. Love fashion, good wine, dreaming and this blog. Cheers!

Good to know!! I’m the kind of girl that wears 50 SPF, but a few of my friends always use this kind of stuff so I’ll pass the information along! 😀
